Since 2014 Heart Ego has established itself as a gallery project marked by an innovative spirit and great professionalism. During its first two years, the gallery operated from a virtual model with an electronic page, a showroom, and exhibitions in the pop-up modality. Quickly accumulating the experience, the project finally opened the doors to the physical space in 2016 in the municipality of San Pedro Garza García, in the Monterrey Metropolitan area in Nuevo León, Mexico.
The exhibition space is situated in a +150 year old hacienda type house with clear colonial architecture lines that are remarked by contemporary renovations. Diluting the lines between architecture, design and art, exhibitors are allowed to work in a vast variety of media. Both the indoor and outdoor spaces are used throughout a vibrant exhibition program that includes parallel activities in the order of artist talks, performances, community meetings, book presentations to name a few. The articulating exhibition halls and patios permit Heart Ego to have two (up to three) different shows at a time, opening dialog between different approaches, artists, or collectives of artists in one single venue.
