STATEMENT

Between light beams that form intriguing geometries, light spectrums at their maximum splendor, parallel sequences on the edge of infinite repetition and expressionist strokes, Rafael Bustamante shows us the states of his being evolving from his characteristic impeccably geometric and minimalist repetitions to innovative gestures. open to progressive abstraction. For this reason, his artistic proposal is very interesting, since he paints fabulous, thin stripes, which impose themselves on us with mysterious auras of luminosity, as well as flows and compositions of free expressionism. It should be noted that the latter breathe a perfection of volumes, as well as being distinguished by preserving their linear and continuous character.

Without a doubt, the principles of form and color are the protagonists of his works. He is, clearly, an architect of painting, since he conceives the canvas as a space in which theories of design, tones and structures are manifested. Likewise, his fascination with neoplasticism, constructivism, suprematism, functionalism, geometric abstractions, flat designs, but with textures and rhythms, the reduction of straight lines on the plane, the psychology of colors, the effects and optical illusions on the surface, the emotions of both painting with sharp and hard contours and fields of smooth colors and, especially, the plastic philosophies of the Bauhaus, De Stijl and the New York school.
